Part One: Preventive Measures
Occupational safety is a primary priority in Saudi labor law. Employers must take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of workers in the workplace. This includes providing the necessary personal protective equipment and training workers on its proper use.
Employers must also conduct regular risk assessments in the workplace and take measures to mitigate these risks. Employers are required to provide first aid and immediate medical care in the event of any injury.
Part Two: Inspection and Oversight
The relevant authorities conduct regular inspection campaigns to ensure employers’ compliance with occupational safety standards. These campaigns include reviewing health and safety records, ensuring the availability of protective equipment, and evaluating the training provided to workers.
The authorities can impose penalties on employers who do not comply with occupational safety standards, including financial fines and closure of the establishment in extreme cases. These measures aim to protect workers and prevent occupational injuries and illnesses.
